Source of Health products undergo laboratory tests

All of our herbal remedies are subjected to laboratory tests before being sold. This ensures their quality and the correct concentrations of natural ingredients. There are two tests that we conduct of our products; a CFU microbial count and an extraction efficiency test. In addition, Source of Health will soon be conducting high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) tests on its products.

Firstly, the colony-forming unit (CFU) is a test used in microbiology to estimate the number of viable microbial cells in a sample. Counting with colony-forming units requires culturing the microbes and counting only the viable (living) cells. An additional test involves examining a sample with a microscope and counting all the cells, both living and dead. The CFU ensures that our products are safe to take and effective in their purposes.

The next laboratory assessment that we perform is an extraction efficiency test. The aim is to see what percentage of herbal compounds can be extracted from the ingredients in each product. Since it is not possible to extract more compounds than the amount that is stored in the plants, the extraction efficiency cannot be greater than 100%. This test allows us to see what percentage of natural compounds will be absorbed by the body when our remedies are consumed.

The last of the laboratory tests is the HPLC, which is used to separate, identify and quantify each component in the herbal remedy. The HPLC test is used in the manufacturing of biological remedies as it is a dependable way to obtain and ensure product purity. The results of this test will allow us to see how pure our ingredients are and, therefore, how effective they will be as traditional medicines. This test will be implemented in the near future.
