Traditional African Medicine has always involved the use of plants for healing and well-being. There are thousands of plant species in African that have medicinal properties. Some can treat physical conditions and the symptoms of illnesses, while others can be used to treat mental issues and cognitive performance. There are a few plants that can be used as herbal remedies for stress, anxiety and worry.
Source of Health has formulated an all-natural medicine, called Relax, that combines three herbal ingredients into an effective remedy for stress and anxiety. This product is inspired by an age-old Khoisan remedy that is believed to reduce tension, worry and angst. The remedy can be taken to improve your mood, promote relaxation, boost concentration and increase overall well-being. We recommend taking one teaspoon of Relax in a quarter glass of water, twice per day.

Ingredients in Relax
This traditional medicine is formulated from three herbal ingredients that have beneficial medicinal properties. Each of these natural ingredients has a calming effect on the mind and can instill relaxation and clear thinking. The combination of these plants result in a traditional African remedy that reduces stress and anxiety while improving the mood:
- Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is also known as Indian ginseng, poison gooseberry or winter cherry. The species name somnifera means “sleep-inducing” in Latin. This plant is an adaptogen, which means that it helps to promote relaxation and calmness. It may lower the heart rate and blood pressure, which are two common symptoms of stress and anxiety.
- Sceletium (commonly called kanna) is a common succulent plant that grows in South Africa. It has been used in ancient African remedies as a mood-enhancer and to combat stress and depression. The dried plant is normally chewed but it can be used as a herbal tea. Some users of this plant have also been known to smoke it or grind it into a dried powder and use it as a snuff.
- Wild pear (Dombeya rotundifolia) looks similar to a true pear tree but is not related. The bark is used in herbal remedies as an infusion or enema to treat stomach ulcers, nausea and chest pains. Wild pear can also be used as an anti-inflammatory to reduce pain in the body.
Relax also contains vegetable glycerine and purified water to give it a sweet, honey-like flavour. The vegetable glycerine is safe for diabetics and has a low effect on blood sugar levels. All of our products are alcohol, preservative, herbicide and pesticide-free.
Our 100% natural products contain herbal concentrates and last up to 20 days for R185, making them a cost-effective option in the traditional African medicine industry.
